La Bohème Café Patisserie
This is the most expensive macaroons from the ones that I have tried so far.
I only tried the salted Caramel, raspberry & white chocolate mocha.
The crusts are too loose and it breaks instantly once you try to bite it.
I also find these macaroons are too sweet for my liking. The size is relatively big compared to some of the macaroons I see in the market.
I also tried their single shot latte. I think its pretty nice, although the expresso is a bit too strong for my liking.
Butter Avenue ~$2.20ish
Pro:
- Wide range of selections
- Decent taste
- Nice and clean atmosphere
- Decent price
Con:
- It's the sweetest out of the 3
- Too far from home/work
Overall:
- The crust is not too loose nor dense. I personally prefer the crust to be a little bit hard and not just break when you bite it. Their macaroons are creamy/cheesey tasting. It's very easy to get addicted to these little bad boys.
Aside from the sweets, their lattes are AMAZING! I really recommend the vanilla latte, as it offers the right amount of milk to the espresso shot. It's way less sweet compared to the ones at Starbucks or Second cup. Also, they actually put an effort in making the latte looking artistic. For some reason, while drinking this latte, it brought back the memory of when I was little. The vivid memory of me spending some nice time with my family...
Old FireHall ~ $2.16
Pro:
- After trying several macaroon variations, I really think that the taste of these little goodies are not too sweet
- I like the texture of these macaroons as it doesn't just melt in your mouth. It offers some kind of chewy consistency to it.
- The size of these goodies is slightly larger compared to Butter London.
Con:
- Not too much selection
- Only offer hot chocolate
Petite Thuet ~$2.60
Brick Street Bakery - $10 for 6
The macaroons are surprisingly chewy, the crust is not hard, kind of soft, but very chewy. It doesn't collapse once you bite it, it feels like eating some kind of bakery that's not macaroons. The size is relatively big and the taste is a bit too sweet.
Ruelo Patisserie ~ $2.50 each (around $14 for 6 pieces)
The store is smaller than expected, but their macaroons are pretty good in selections.

Petite Thuet ~$2.60
Pro: Not too sweet, my favorite is the blueberry cheesecake flav
Con: Crust is too hard, each macaroons don't offer the same consistency (should improve on the quality control of these sweets).
- Too expensive for its quality
Decadent Deserts ~<$2.00
They don't offer a wide selections of macaroons. The size is also relatively smaller compared to the average size in the market. The taste is nothing exceptional. I don't really recommend this place.

I got the Rose Lychee, Raspberry, Blueberry Lemon, earl grey and Vanilla flavors. The macaroons can be so easily spotted once you enter the store. The place is tiny, but they have customers constantly coming in. The shells are nicely made and it doesn't crack as easily as some of the other ones like La Boheme. It has a nice crispy bite to it, without being too dry. Although I still prefer the Butter avenue macaroons more in texture, but these ones are pretty next in line. The pistachio filling was pretty good and not too sweet. The best thing is that it's not too thick or too thin. The ones from the Brick Street Bakery is WAY too thick and sweet compared to these ones.
Overall, I quite like it and would recommend it, although they are not the cheapest.
