- Estee Lauder Double Wear Light 2.0
- Vichy Dermablend liquid foundation
- Shu Umura Face Architect Illuminating Moisture Fluid foundation
- The Balm cream foundation
Even though the title says 'empties', some of the foundations listed above are not completely finished. However, I have had them for at least a couple of years so it's time for them to go...
To start off, the least favorite from the list is definietely the Balm's Time Balm foundation. I know a lot of people like this foundation as it can cover any imperfections and it could be used as a concealer. Unless you really need HEAVY coverage, then this foundation is for you. My skin is normal to combination, with occasion hormonal acne. Other wise, my skin is pretty clear.
The texture of the Balm's foundation is very thick and its hard to apply. The best way to apply this foundation is with fingers. Because the texture is really thick and dense, the best way is to first warm up the product between the fingers first and then slowly blend it on the skin. Or you can first dip the foundations on the face and blend it with a wet beauty blender. Don't bother with using any brushes because the application will take really long and hard to blend. The longevity of the foundation is pretty good, even in humid climate. However, it definitely gives a caked up face effect. I purchased this foundation for almost 3 years..but I only used it a few times. Another problem I had with the foundation is the packaging. I find it really hard to keep the foundation sanitized as you need to put your fingers on the product from every application.
Estee Lauder Double Wear Light is a pretty decent foundation if you are looking for good coverage foundation but don't want to feel it on the skin the whole day. I have never tried the original double wear foundation, so I cant make a comparison between these two. The foundation lasts quite well on the skin and it doesn't really oxidize as much or turn the skin grey. There is barely any scents in the foundation, so it's good for those with sensitive skin. However, with the price, I think there's better alternatives to this. So overall, this is not my top fav foundations.
Vichy Dermablend Liquid foundation was so hyped up on youtube a year ago, so I decided to try it myself and see what the excitement was about. The price point of this is definitely a plus as its not too expensive and it's very easily accessible in Canada. The coverage is great and it doesn't look cakey on the skin. However, the color selections on this product are very limited.
Shu Umura Face Architect Illuminating Moisture Fluid foundation is definetely my fav out of the 4. It offers medium coverage and it feels light on the skin. I find the name 'illuminating' a bit misleading because I was expecting to see a very dewy finish to the skin. Instead of dewy, I find it offers more of a satin look.
If you have dull and tired looking skin, I think this foundation is a good choice because it somehow brighten your complexion while making it look fresh and clean. I would say the foundation can generally last at least 5 hours without touch up. The foundation itself is very easy to blend, and it doesn't leave a sticky/greasy feeling to the face. The makeup artist from Shu suggested to use fingers to apply the foundation, but I think any applicators are fine with this product.
