Current Favorites - Drugstore and Highend crossovers

Lately, I've discovered the beauty of going minimalistic. It's time effective and also cost effective.

Top:

NYX Micro Brow Pencil (Chocolate)
This is a no fuss, simple and long lasting brow pencil for those who wants something to just fill in their brows.
There is no complaint about this product, other than the price point still being a little bit expensive for a drug store product.

Revlon Colorstay Eye Liner Pencil (Brown)

I have been a big fan of the Marc Jacob Highliner Gel Eye Crayon for many years. The pigmentation and longevity of the product is just on point. However, $C31 an eyeliner pencil is just not justifiable for the long term.

I have discovered an alternative to the Marc Jacob pencil, which is the Revlon Colorstay eye liner. Although this is not a gel based eye liner, which means the consistency is much more stiff and not as easy to blend. But the lasting power is excellent. It lasts through tears, water and oily lids. I highly recommend this pencil if you are on a budget.

Left:
BareMinerals Stroke of Light Eye Brightener (Luminous 2)
This eye brightener has been sitting in my makeup stash for almost a year... I did not understand the point of this product as it provides minimal coverage under the eyes.

However, recently I have learn different ways of applying this product to make it work as I want to give it a second chance. As the name suggested, this is an eye brightener, so it does not cover dark circles as well as a regular concealer does. However, if you apply a thin layer underneath the eyes before concealer/foundation, blend it out with a beauty blender; apply a layer of concealer on top of it; blend it out with a beauty blender; and apply a final thin layer of the brightener (if you wish), it does magically make you look more awake. This sounds like a lot of work, but it really isn't.

Maybelline Superstay Better Skin Concealer (Light Medium)

This is probably my only drug store concealer I've tried but to my surprise, it is not bad.
This concealer offers medium coverage with a yellow undertone. It does a decent job at evening out the skin tone and provide a clear/smooth canvas to the face.

Middle:
Tarte Color Wheel
Nice blush palette if you want to explore different colours, that offer a subtle/matt/soft finish and decent lasting power (approx. 8hrs)

Right:
Too Faced Sugar Pop Eye Shadow Palette
This is probably not the best Too Faced palette they make, but the darker shades still work nicely on the eye lids.

The texture of these shadows are definitely not as creamy as the ones like the Naked palette from Urban Decay, but they apply quite nicely with a flat eye shadow brush and blends out effortlessly. My favorite colors include the brown, peach and burgundy as they brings out the brown shade of my eyes.

Review: Marc Jacob's Perfection Powder Featherweight Foundation

Deng Deng Deng! I placed an order through Sephora.ca about a month ago, as I was very interested in trying Marc Jacob's new makeup line. I pretty much made the order when the line was first launched, so I had no idea which will be hits or misses.  The one product I wanted to try out was the powder foundation - Let's talk about the packaging... Like every other reviewers, Marc Jacob definitely did a great job in designing his products.  He differentiated his products by rounding the 4 edges on the side, while keeping the traditional black sleek case trend.  He also got a little silver push button at the side, which adds a little bit of classiness to the look.  Once the compact is opened, you can see a huge mirror on the lid, and because of this, the weight of the foundation is relatively heavier compared to other compact foundations. Now on to the product - The color I got is 300 Beige (I am normally a shade 30 in Dior/Chanel foundations), which is

ANASTASIA - Lavish Eye Shadow Palette (swatches)

This eye-shadow palette is awesome! It comes with 10 different shades that are mostly warm toned.   I love the staying power of these eye shadows (especially the darker ones).     The palette also comes with  - Dual ended eye shadow brush    (meh) - Twist-up Waterproof eye liner (I love this eyeliner! It's pigmented and last all day. The only problem I have with this is that I see tiny smudges around the lower lash line after a day of wear) - Brow pencil  (hint of brown, but color does not last all day) - Brow tweezers The lighter ones (cream/ballet/orange soda) are very sheer, but the darker colors are very pigmented. Pandora Haul!!!

If you haven't heard of the Pandora 2013 March promotion, then start researching on it! The promotion for this Spring season is to spend over $150CAD and receive a free silver bracelet (value $75). To be completely honest, I was never really a fan of Pandora bracelets. I have always thought their design are dupe-able, same silver quality as any that you can find at a typical jewellery boutique.  But sometimes, peer pressure get to you...(this sounds like an excuse LOL). And the only reason why I caved in to the bandwagon is that I want to own a bracelet, that I can collect special charms that can reflect some memorable time in my life.  Or something that I can find special/relevant to me. One thing people need to keep in mind is that, the pictures in the Pandora website is a bit misleading. The photos of each charms look much bigger and shinier, but in real life, they are much smaller. Another thing to remember is that, the silver do oxidize after you wear for a while.
